Laura Linney is an American actress who is popular for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and was raised by a single mom who worked as a nurse, she became interested in theatre while having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, first in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. When she graduated at Brown University in the year 2000, she began making her Broadway debut soon afterward. Within two years of that, her first film came out and the next year she made her television debut. Since then, she's been in numerous films as well as stage and TV productions. She has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her career. This includes the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Yet, despite the array of awards acting has been her primary passion and she continues to perform both in stage and screen.
